Oana Kariotoglou Popescu is currently a PhD candidate in musicology at Leeds University, after graduating with two Masters, in Performance/Piano and in Music Pedagogy/Piano from the Zurich University of the Arts, and with Bachelor in Music Performance/Piano from the National University of Music, Bucharest.
Oana attended numerous international piano performance workshops and obtained international and national prizes in piano competitions. The pianist who debuted with an orchestra at the age of fifteen is based in Zurich and performs as soloist in Switzerland, Greece, and Romania. The pianist’s recital programs are built on works with roots in Balkan and Carpathian basin. A highly adaptive piano technique serves Oana’s solo and chamber music repertoire ranging from Scarlatti and Mozart to Xenakis and Ligeti.
