Oana Kariotoglou Popescu graduated with Master in Arts of Music Performance/Piano and Master in Arts of Music Pedagogy/Piano from the Zurich University of the Arts (Zürcher Hochschule der Künste).

Oana attended numerous international piano performance workshops and obtained international and national prizes in piano competitions. The pianist debuted with an orchestra at the age of fifteen. Oana is now based in Zurich and regularly performs as soloist in Switzerland, Greece and Romania.

Her highly adaptive piano technique serves a solo and chamber music repertoire ranging from Scarlatti and Mozart to Xenakis and Ligeti. The core program of Oana’s recitals includes twentieth century pieces with roots in Balkan and Carpathian folklore.

Oana is the founder of Ensemble ROA, a 2015, Zurich-based classical formation with piano, flute (Roxana Popescu) and voice (Anna Kovach). This year Oana collaborates with the Helsinki-based Ukrainian flautist, Iryna Gorkun-Silén.
